Sweet Candy Company

sweets.jpgSWCA Environmental Performance Group contracted with Sweet Candy Company, a 100-year old producer of quality candies with sales across America, to develop a comprehensive sustainability program. Program development included the following:

  • A detailed Baseline Environmental Opportunities Analysis of Sweet's carbon footprint, Ecological Footprint, water consumption, and solid waste generation; the baseline analysis also included a review and quantitative analysis of Sweet’'s current green practices and eco-efficiencies
  • Close work with Sweet's management and Green Team to develop a Sustainability Plan including goals, strategies, reduction targets, timelines, and metrics for communicating progress
  • Assistance with Sweet's employee education and engagement program, including group educational sessions with Sweet's employee teams and information to help develop educational reference materials for ongoing employee engagement
 

Deer Valley Ski Resort

deervalley.jpgDeer Valley Ski Resort has been rated the #1 ski resort in North America three times in the past 5 years, including their most recent #1 rating in 2007.

SWCA Environmental Performance Group worked with Deer Valley to:

  • Develop a baseline Environmental Footprint Baseline Analysis of the resort's operations; this assessment included a detailed carbon footprint, Ecological Footprint, water consumption analysis, and solid waste generation assessment
  • Review and quantify Deer Valley's current green practices and eco-efficiencies
  • Develop recommendations around tracking and reporting progress, potential eco-efficiency opportunities, and employee and customer engagement
  • Align and educate Deer Valley's Green Team about the resort's impacts and provide direction for future action
   

Park City Municipality

park-city-logoFounded in 1869 as a silver mining town, Park City has since left its silver mining roots and is now known as one of America's premier skiing and all-season resort destinations. In 2002, Park City was chosen as a venue site for the Winter Olympics, and is home to three of North America's leading ski resorts: The Canyons Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and Park City Mountain Resort.


As part of its responsibilities under the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, Park City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) contracted with SWCA Environmental Performance Group to baseline its government operations greenhouse gas emissions, and also to estimate its 1990 greenhouse gas emissions.


SWCA Environmental Performance Group worked with Park City to complete the baseline carbon inventory on a very aggressive schedule. SWCA Environmental Performance Group generated a publicly available report documenting and explaining the results, with PCMC's greenhouse gas emissions broken out by both department and facility. This reporting structure gave PCMC maximum flexibility with data organized for both planning and reporting purposes.


   

The Riverside Company

logo_riversideThe Riverside Company is a private equity firm based in New York City, with offices around the world. Riverside partnered with SWCA Environmental Performance Group to develop a triple bottom line baseline assessment tool that can be used for all of its portfolio companies.

The tool creates a streamlined process for Riverside's individual portfolio companies to baseline and manage their Social, Environmental, and Financial performance. The tool also provides a common set of metrics that Riverside can use to track performance across its entire portfolio.

   

Zermatt Resort and Spa/Dolce International

  • Green Team alignment
  • An Environmental Footprint Baseline Analysis of Zermatt's carbon footprint, Ecological Footprint, water consumption, and solid waste generation; the baseline analysis also included a review and quantitative analysis of Zermatt current green practices and eco-efficiencies
  • Recommendations around tracking and reporting progress, potential eco-efficiency opportunities, and employee and customer engagement
   

Park City Mountain Resort

parkcity.gifPark City Mountain Resort (PCMR) was ranked the third most environmentally friendly ski resort in North America by the Ski Area Citizens' Coalition. PCMR contacted SWCA Environmental Performance Group for help determining the resort's current environmental impacts, and SWCA Environmental Performance Group provided PCMR with:

  • Environmental Footprint Baseline Analysis of the resort's operations. This assessment included a detailed carbon footprint, Ecological Footprint, water consumption analysis, and solid waste generation assessment. The baseline analysis also included a review and quantitative analysis of PCMR's current green practices and eco-efficiencies.
  • A detailed review of the current state of biodiesel carbon impacts, including a brief on the various viewpoints in this evolving field.
  • Recommendations around tracking and reporting progress, potential eco-efficiency opportunities, and employee and customer engagement.

This is believed to be the first Ecological Footprint completed for a ski area in North America.

   

Connor Sport Court

CSC partnered with SWCA Environmental Performance Group to conduct a triple-bottom-line baseline assessment of company operations. The triple bottom line assessment focused on CSC's social, environmental, and financial performance. Work performed included:

  • Management consultation and alignment
  • A triple bottom line Baseline Analysis of CSC's operations including an analysis of profitability and annual growth, employee and community relations, Carbon and Ecological Footprint, water consumption, and solid waste generation
  • A review and quantitative analysis of CSC's current green practices and eco-efficiencies
  • Recommendations for strategic plan development, sustainability tracking and reporting, and employee and customer engagement

   

Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd.

Banco Popular

bancopopular.jpgSWCA Environmental Performance Group performed a baseline Environmental Opportunities Analysis for Banco Popular, a $50 billion market capitalized financial institution with over 190 branch locations.

This baseline assessment included:

  • A customized questionnaire that was used by the bank's departments
  • An analysis of Banco Popular's carbon footprint
  • An assessment of the bank's current green practices and eco-efficiencies
  • The necessary tools to communicate the bank's progress against its baseline
  • This is believed to be the first carbon footprint of a Puerto Rican bank
   

Salt Lake City Corporation

  • Advice on boundary setting for operations with multiple owners (according to ISO standards)
  • The development of Utah-specific conversion factors
  • A review of the assessment's integrity
  • The development of a carbon calculator for Salt Lake City's municipal solid waste

Recently, SWCA Environmental Performance Group was selected as Salt Lake City's on-call environmental sustainability consultant.
